Job Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on, reliable Small Tools Fitter / Service Engineer to join our busy plant hire depot. You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of small plant and power tools, ensuring all equipment is in safe, working order before it goes out on hire. Working hours are Mon -Friday 7am to 5pm, every other Saturday 8am - 12pm
Responsibilities
- Inspecting, servicing, and repairing small plant and tools (e.g. breakers, saws, generators, pumps, grinders, whackers, etc.)
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out mechanical and electrical repairs
- Carry out pre-hire inspections and function tests
- Testing equipment to ensure safety and compliance before hire
- Keeping service and repair records up to date
- Maintaining a clean and organised workshop
- Use a Claire tester (PAT testing equipment) to check and certify electrical tools
- Occasionally assisting with deliveries or collections if required
Requirements
- Previous experience in small tool or plant repair (hire industry experience preferred)
- Good mechanical and electrical knowledge
- Confident using a Claire tester and understanding electrical safety testing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence desirable
