Our client is a leading waste management, recycling, and resource recovery business operating throughout Northern Ireland, committed to transforming waste into valuable resources through innovative recycling, biomass processing, and aggregate production operations.
We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Plant Operator to join our client's growing team. The successful candidate will operate a variety of mobile plant equipment across the recycling and processing facilities, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials and supporting daily production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a material handler fitted with a rotating grab to feed materials into recycling processing equipment and material recovery facility (MRF) picking stations.
- Operate a 360-degree excavator to feed an impact crusher as part of recycled aggregate production.
- Operate a material handler fitted with a rotating grab to feed high-speed biomass shredding and processing systems.
- Carry out daily pre-start inspections and routine operator maintenance checks on all plant and equipment.
- Monitor material flow and maintain consistent feed rates to maximise processing efficiency.
- Work closely with site supervisors and processing teams to achieve production targets.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Identify and report equipment defects, breakdowns, hazards, and operational issues promptly.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across operational areas.
- Assist with general site duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience operating heavy plant machinery in a waste management, recycling, quarrying, construction, biomass, or similar industrial environment.
- Experience operating material handlers with grab attachments and/or 360-degree excavators.
- Good understanding of safe plant operation and site safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements in a busy operational environment.
- Reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience operating loading shovels, telehandlers, or agricultural/industrial tractors.
- Experience working within recycling, waste processing, biomass, quarrying, or aggregate production facilities.
- Relevant CPCS, NPORS, LANTRA, CSR, or equivalent plant operator certifications.
- Knowledge of material recovery facilities (MRFs), crushing operations, or biomass processing systems.

Pay: £16.00-£21.00 per hour
