teach195. is currently recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across specialist provisions, mainstream schools and alternative settings throughout Trafford and the surrounding areas. We are supporting schools with both short-term and long-term staffing requirements and are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
We are seeking compassionate, adaptable and proactive SEND Teaching Assistants who are comfortable supporting pupils with a range of complex needs across all key stages. This role may involve personal care responsibilities and requires individuals who can provide high-quality support while promoting independence, wellbeing and positive learning experiences.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs both inside and outside of the classroom. You may work on a 1:1 basis or support small groups of pupils with varying learning, communication, sensory, physical and behavioural needs.
Roles are available on both a flexible day-to-day basis and within longer-term placements to suit your availability and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEND needs across Early Years, Primary and Secondary settings
- Support students on a 1:1 basis and within small group interventions
- Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation and engagement within lessons
- Support students with additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, PMLD, physical disabilities and complex learning needs
- Deliver personal care support where required, including toileting, changing and supporting personal hygiene needs
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions
- Implement behaviour strategies and support plans in line with school guidance
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and wider professionals to support pupil progress
- Maintain accurate records and provide feedback on student progress where required
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable
- Comfortable providing personal care support where required
- Experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs is advantageous
- Patient, resilient and caring approach to supporting young people
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Ability to adapt to different settings, age groups and needs across all key stages
- Professional, reliable and committed attitude
