Role Overview
The Assistant for the Crisis Resilience Fund plays a vital, hands‑on role in supporting the delivery of essential household items to individuals and families in need. This zero‑hours position involves manual handling, occasional driving of a Luton van, and assisting with the safe installation of white goods in clients’ homes. It suits someone practical, reliable, and committed to helping people in challenging circumstances.
Key Responsibilities
Driving Duties
- Drive a Luton van when required to transport white goods and furniture.
- Ensure safe loading, securing, and unloading of items.
- Follow planned routes and maintain a professional, respectful approach when visiting clients’ homes.
Manual Handling & Loading
Assist with loading and unloading heavy household items, including:
- Washing machines
- Electric cookers
- Fridge freezers
- Wardrobes
- Sofas
- Other essential furniture and white goods
- Work safely as part of a team to move items in and out of properties.
Delivery & Installation Support
- Deliver items to clients’ homes with care and sensitivity.
- Support the installation of white goods (e.g., positioning appliances, assisting with connections under supervision).
- Ensure all items are placed safely and correctly before leaving the property.
General Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the van and storage areas.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe lifting practices.
- Represent the Crisis Resilience Fund with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
Skills & Requirements
- Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
- Full UK driving licence (required for Luton van driving).
- Good communication skills and a supportive, customer‑focused attitude.
- Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to work on a zero‑hours basis.
