The Role
We are seeking a Company Accountant to take sole ownership of the finance function, delivering financial and administrative support across the business. This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone confident managing the full finance function independently.
Main Duties
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting reports
- Prepare month-end journals, prepayments, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Sales administration
- Purchase ledger processing and month-end payment run
- Process monthly payroll for around 15 staff, including associated tax and pension administration
- Submit quarterly VAT returns
- Submit monthly and quarterly compliance returns
- Assist with the annual voluntary audit
- General admin and ad hoc tasks as required
Essential Attributes
- At least two years' experience in a similar role
- Proficient in Sage50, Sage Payroll and Office365 products
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across the business as well as external stakeholders
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident working independently
- Previous motor trade experience would be beneficial
