Golborne is a flourishing and heavily oversubscribed 11–16 secondary school, proud to provide an exceptional education for the children of Golborne and Lowton. We are one of a very small number of state, comprehensive secondary schools in the North West to be awarded an Ofsted judgement of Outstanding, and we are exceptionally proud of what this means for the pupils who attend our school and the staff who work here. As well as strong GCSE results, pupils at Golborne experience a broad and ambitious curriculum alongside a wide range of opportunities for personal development beyond the classroom.
Golborne continues to build on its success as a beacon of excellence at the heart of the community, underpinned by a relentless focus on high standards and inclusive practice. We believe that all staff – teaching and support – are our greatest asset, and we invest in them by placing wellbeing and professional development at the centre of all that we do. Our support staff play a vital role in enabling our pupils to thrive, and are an integral part of our school community. We operate a flexible working policy where appropriate and have a wellbeing offer that recognises and values staff contribution.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, suitably experienced and qualified person to join our intervention team. The successful candidate will have a good standard of education, including English and Maths (GCSE grade C and above), good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A genuine commitment to equality of opportunity for every child is essential, and experience of working with primary or secondary pupils in a classroom environment would be advantageous.
Intervention Managers work with small groups and individual pupils to remove barriers to them thriving in school. The nature of this intervention can be tailored to the strengths and experience of the applicant and may include supporting pupils
with literacy, numeracy, organisation and resilience. Please read the job description and person specification for full details before applying.
An application form and further details of the post are available from the school website www.golbornehigh.wigan.sch.uk
