About the Role
Avela Home Service is looking for a skilled, reliable Wall & Floor Tiler to join our busy maintenance team. You will focus on delivering high-quality tiling installations and patch repairs across our housing portfolio.
The workload is highly varied, combining responsive day-to-day repairs with void property refurbishments (preparing empty homes for new tenants). The role is predominately Kitchen & Bathroom (K&B) installations, meaning you must be highly proficient in full room layouts, splashbacks, and wet-room tiling.
Key Responsibilities
- K&B Installations: Complete full and partial tiling installations in kitchens and bathrooms to an exceptional standard.
- Responsive Repairs: Attend day-to-day maintenance jobs to repair, match, and replace damaged or loose tiles in occupied homes.
- Void Refurbishments: Work efficiently in void properties to overhaul kitchens and bathrooms within strict turnaround timelines.
- Surface Preparation: Remove old tiles, grout, and adhesive; level surfaces with plaster, sand, or cement screed; and apply necessary waterproof tanking systems before laying new tiles.
- Precision Execution: Measure, mark out, and cut ceramic, porcelain, or mosaic tiles accurately around pipes, sockets, and fixtures.
- Customer Service: Act as a professional face for Avela, respecting residents' homes by keeping work areas clean, using dust sheets, and minimizing disruption.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a professional Tiler, ideally within social housing, domestic maintenance, or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 in Wall & Floor Tiling (or equivalent time-served trade experience).
- Technical Skills: Complete mastery of surface preparation, laser-levelling, precision cutting, tanking, waterproofing, and grouting.
- Multi-Skilled Capability: Ability to handle minor associated tasks (e.g., basic patching, sealing, or minor making-good) is highly desirable.
- Compliance: Strong awareness of health and safety regulations, working at heights, and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Logistics: A valid UK driving licence is essential.
