We are seeking a highly capable and resilient Deputy Head of Healthcare to play a key role in the overall delivery of healthcare services within a secure custodial environment. You will be joining HMP Wymott, a male Category C prison in Leyland with a complex and varied population, and capacity of around 1,200.
This is a senior role, with management responsibility for clinical leads across the pathways (primary care, mental health and substance misuse), in which you will be supporting the Head of Healthcare.
Hours
Shifts are Monday- Friday, 08:00 - 16:00. Working 37.5 hours per week.
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £53,000 - £58,000 per annum.

As our new Deputy Head of Healthcare, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Work closely with the Head of Healthcare and senior team to deliver the best service possible to patients
- Support all pathways that we offer - mental health, primary care and substance misuse
- Deputise for the Head of Healthcare when necessary
- Have responsibility for the operational management of the service
- Continuously review and assess the service being delivered
- Review and improve standards and processes
- Support the Head of Healthcare in delivering agreed contractual requirements and targets from NHS England and drive their strategic vision for the service
- Ensure effective day-to-day operational management of all clinical services across the site
- Ensure agreed standards are achieved by leading, developing and motivating your team, ensuring they receive appropriate managerial supervision and performance appraisal

Our New Deputy Head of Healthcare Will:
- Ideally hold a current registration, such as NMC / HCPC etc, but this is not essential
- Ideally have previous experience within a prison or secure setting
- Inclusive leadership approach embedding a culture of continuous progression and innovation
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to influence and deliver information to key partners and stakeholders
