HR Advisor
Location: Cambridge
Rate: £19.32 PAYE (£25.18 Umbrella) per hour
Contract: Interim / Temporary
Duration: Until 31st October 2026
Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (2 days per week in the office)
This is an excellent opportunity for a human resources professional with local government experience to provide expert HR advice and support across a broad range of employee relations and workforce matters. The successful candidate will work closely with managers and stakeholders to deliver proactive, solutions-focused HR support while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies.
The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with two days per week based in the office and the remainder working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations matters.
- Support case management activities including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and performance issues.
- Assist managers with organisational change initiatives, restructures, and workforce planning projects.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives where required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR best practices.
- Build strong working relationships with managers and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and case documentation.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as an HR Advisor or in a similar HR generalist role.
- Essential experience within a local government environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing a variety of employee relations cases.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload effectively.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience is desirable.
