Care2Care Ltd is a family-run residential childcare organisation committed to creating safe, nurturing, and stable homes for children and young people.
We are looking for experienced Residential Support Workers to join our growing teams in Southall and Birmingham.
Young people may present with emotional and behavioural difficulties, trauma, placement instability, missing from care risks, exploitation risks, or other complex experiences. We are looking for resilient, compassionate, and committed individuals who can build positive relationships, provide structure and consistency, and safeguard young people effectively within a nurturing home environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and day-to-day support to children and young people within the home
- Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with young people while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Promote education, emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive outcomes for young people
- Safeguard children and young people and report concerns immediately in line with safeguarding procedures and local authority protocols
- Support young people during challenging situations using de-escalation and restorative approaches
- Attend and encourage attendance to education, health, therapy, family contact, and professional appointments
- Act as an advocate for young people and support them to express their wishes, feelings, and views
- Plan, organise, and attend activities, holidays, appointments, and community-based outings
- Encourage engagement in cultural, recreational, and social activities within the home and wider community
- Complete daily recordings, incident reports, body maps, key work sessions, safeguarding records, and placement documentation to a high standard
- Undertake key worker responsibilities and contribute towards care planning and placement objectives
- Attend professionals meetings, reviews, education meetings, and strategy meetings where required
- Work in partnership with social workers, schools, healthcare professionals, therapists, and external agencies
- Support young people to develop independence and life skills including cooking, budgeting, shopping, travel, personal care, and routines
- Support with household tasks including cleaning, shopping, cooking, and maintaining the home to a high standard
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and professional conduct at all times
- Contribute towards creating a safe, stable, structured, and nurturing home environment
Shift Expectations
This role requires flexibility to meet the needs of the service. Staff will be expected to work a mixture of long days, waking nights, sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays as part of their allocated rota.
Waking night and sleep-in duties form part of the role and are included within rota allocations.
Rotas are provided at least three weeks in advance wherever possible to support staff with planning and maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience within residential childcare or a similar setting
- GCSE English and Maths Grade C/4 or above
- Good safeguarding and child protection knowledge
- Understanding of care plans, risk assessments, placement plans, and behaviour support planning
- Basic IT skills including the ability to complete reports, recordings, emails, and electronic documentation systems
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
- Flexible and reliable approach to shift work
- Enhanced DBS suitable for working with children and young people
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent
- College-level qualification in Health & Social Care, Childcare, Psychology, Criminology, Social Care, or related subjects
- Experience within Ofsted regulated services
- Full UK Driving Licence
