If so you could be a great candidate and should consider the opportunity of joining us to train as a Pharmacy Healthcare Counter Assistant
Hours: Wednesday to Friday - 9am-6:30pm (with a one hour unpaid break)
Starting rate of pay: Up to £12.71 per hour- This will increase on successful completion of a Healthcare Counter Assistant course.
This is a busy and rewarding role where the day truly does fly by. You’ll be the first point of contact for our customers, greeting them warmly and helping to understand what they need from the pharmacy — whether that’s collecting a prescription, purchasing medication, receiving healthcare advice, or accessing pharmacy services.
Because of this, every day is varied and engaging. You’ll get to know many of our regular local customers and quickly become a valued and integral member of our small, friendly team. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive, can‑do team attitude are key to success.
Within 3-6months of starting the role you will have the opportunity to undertake and work towards an Healthcare Counter Assistant course*
(*There is a requirement for candidates to be placed on the correct course relevant to their role in pharmacy to further develop your understanding of the role)
Main roles and responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients in a friendly, caring, and professional manner
- Identifying customer needs and offering appropriate support or advice advice to patients on the use of over-the-counter medicines as well as general health and lifestyle matters.
- Selling over‑the‑counter medicines and pharmacy products in line with medicine sale protocols, following till processes and cashing up
- Asking appropriate questions to ensure safe and effective use of medicines
- Receiving and handing out prescriptions under the supervision of the Responsible Pharmacist
- Collecting prescription charges and ensuring declarations are completed accurately
- Ordering stock in line with company procedures while minimising wastage
- Maintaining clean, tidy, and attractive product displays, including promotions and price changes
- Completing housekeeping duties to keep front and back shop areas well organised
- Processing invoices and pharmacy paperwork accurately and on time
- Supporting the delivery of pharmacy services following suitable training.
