Weekend Pullman Dining Train Steward(s)
Based in Grosmont Station
We are a Real Living Wage Employer- Hourly Rate £13.45 (over 18).
We are seeking a dedicated and personable Pullman Dining Train Steward to provide exceptional guest service aboard our luxury train. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a memorable dining experience by delivering high standards of hospitality, food service, and safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a unique environment, combining hospitality expertise with the charm of vintage rail travel. The ideal applicant will possess strong communication skills, a passion for customer service, and relevant experience in food and beverage service.
Hours of work
This is a fixed term post until 4th November 2026.
Saturdays/Sundays. Approx 4 - 12 hours per week (additional hours may be available if required) Age 17+.
The Pullman operates lunchtimes services with 6 Saturday evening services this season. Usual start time is 9.30am or 11.30am and usually finished by 4pm.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests warmly and assist with seating arrangements to ensure a comfortable dining atmosphere
- Serve food and beverages efficiently while maintaining high standards of presentation and guest satisfaction
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the dining carriage, including setting tables and clearing after service
- Support with light food preparation tasks, ensuring all meals are served promptly and correctly
- Uphold health and safety regulations throughout all duties, including food safety protocols and hygiene standards
- Collaborate with team members to deliver seamless service during busy periods and special events
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality, restaurant service, or related roles such as hotel or catering environments is highly desirable
- Food preparation skills, including cooking or meal assembly, are advantageous
- Experience working in kitchens or culinary settings enhances understanding of food safety and meal handling procedures
- Proven ability to deliver excellent guest services with professionalism and courtesy
- Familiarity with food safety standards, serving techniques, and meal presentation practices is preferred
