Youth Justice Prevention Worker

Seven Resourcing is recruiting for a Youth Justice Prevention Worker to join a multi-agency Youth Justice Service team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to support children and young people aged 10–17 who are at risk of offending or engaging in anti-social behaviour.
In this role, you will work directly with young people and their families to deliver assessments, develop targeted interventions, and provide mentoring and support aimed at reducing offending and improving outcomes. You will also work closely with partner agencies as part of a collaborative, restorative approach to youth justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake assessments of young people referred to the Youth Justice Service Prevention Team.
- Develop and deliver tailored interventions to address anti-social behaviour and reduce risk of reoffending.
- Manage and coordinate a caseload of young people, ensuring effective prioritisation and safeguarding practices.
- Build positive relationships with young people and their families to encourage engagement in programmes and diversionary activities.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and motivational support to support behaviour change.
- Work closely with partner agencies and attend multi-agency meetings to support joined-up service delivery.
- Contribute to case planning, reports, and reviews for young people within the service.
- Maintain accurate and timely records using case management systems.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met in line with relevant legislation and procedures.
Requirements
- Experience working with children and young people, ideally within a youth justice or similar setting.
- Understanding of the criminal justice system relating to young people.
- Knowledge of restorative justice principles and approaches.
- Experience in undertaking assessments and planning interventions (desirable).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage a caseload and work independently.
- Good IT skills for case recording and reporting.
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle (essential).
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
