Your 5-Year Career Pathway
Year 1 – Apprentice Removals Operative
Learn the job from the ground up, working alongside experienced drivers
£8.50–£9.00 per hour
Year 2 – Learn to Drive
Gain your car licence (if needed) and start van driving
£9.50–£10.00
Year 3 – Experienced Driver
Develop confidence and responsibility
£10.50–£11.00
Year 4 – HGV Apprenticeship
Full LGV/HGV training provided
£11.50–£12.00
Year 5+ – Qualified HGV Driver
£12.50–£14.50+ and beyond
What you’ll be doing (Year 1)
- Packing and protecting customers’ belongings
- Lifting, loading and unloading
- Working closely as part of a team
- Supporting moves locally and nationally
Selection Process – Finding the Right Fit
This role isn’t just about strength or ability — it’s about attitude, teamwork, and how you work with others day in, day out.
Removals is a close-knit working environment. You’ll spend long days on the road with the same team, so it’s important that you can work at the right pace, take pride in your work, and get on well with colleagues and customers.
For that reason, successful applicants will take part in a 2-week paid trial, working alongside our experienced teams.
During this time, we are looking for:
- A strong work ethic
- The ability to learn quickly and work at a good pace
- A positive attitude and willingness to get involved
- Someone others feel comfortable working alongside
Our teams have many years of experience and are very good at recognising who will succeed in this environment.
The trial works both ways — it gives you the opportunity to experience the role first-hand and decide if it’s right for you.
While we aim to give everyone a fair opportunity, not everyone will find this type of work suits them, and we may make decisions during or at the end of the trial based on overall suitability.
The successful candidate will then be offered a place on the apprenticeship programme.
