Post Mortem Support Radiographer
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Post Mortem Support Radiographer to join a specialist forensic imaging service. This is a focused, clinical technical role supporting post-mortem CT (PMCT) operations within a multidisciplinary environment, working closely with pathology, radiology, coronial services, and law enforcement partners.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality forensic imaging, ensuring accurate scanning, documentation, and service support in line with national and professional standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Performing post-mortem CT (PMCT) scans in line with national and professional standards
- Supporting the daily operation of a specialist forensic imaging and mortuary-based service
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including pathologists, radiologists, coroners, and police
- Assisting with the safe handling, preparation, and positioning of deceased individuals for imaging
- Maintaining accurate imaging records and case documentation using PACS and mortuary systems
- Supporting quality assurance, audits, and service improvement activities
- Deputising for the Lead Radiographer when required
- Contributing to teaching, training, research, and development activity where appropriate
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
- Current HCPC registration
- Experience in CT scanning
- Minimum of 6 months post-qualification clinical experience
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Commitment to high standards of care, quality, and CPD
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement
- Ability to provide a Criminal Convictions Declaration
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience or interest in post-mortem / forensic imaging
- Knowledge of PMCT techniques (e.g. angiography, ventilated PMCT)
- Experience working in a mortuary or with deceased individuals
- Understanding of the UK coronial system
- Experience in teaching, audit, or research
- Postgraduate qualification or working towards one
