Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Manager to join our team in a children’s residential care home for children with learning disabilities (LD). You will play a vital role in supporting the Home Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the home and ensuring that the needs of our young people are consistently met. Responsibilities are:
- Support the Home Manager in the daily running of the home
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the care team
- Ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children
- Contribute to care planning, reviews, and multi-agency meetings
- Uphold safeguarding procedures and quality standards
- Conduct supervisions, staff inductions, and practice support sessions
- Complete administrative tasks, records, and reports as directed
- Support with regulatory inspections and maintain compliance with Ofsted
- Promote positive outcomes in health, education, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing
Requirements
- Level 3 or 4 in Children's Residential Care or equivalent required
- Level 5 in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
- Experience in a children’s residential care setting
- A natural leader with excellent communication skills
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols
- Ability to manage challenging situations professionally
- Full UK Driving Licence preferred
- Enhanced DBS Check required (we can assist with this)
