We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN School Teaching Assistant to join our Primary Autism Provision in Islington.
This full-time role is integral to supporting our school's mission to provide an inclusive, nurturing environment where every student is valued and empowered to reach their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and colleagues to deliver tailored support that respects the individual needs of each learner, fostering their development within a specialised setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with autism and other special educational needs. The role is available to start immediately and will run on a full-time basis.
There is also the opportunity to go permanent after 12 weeks!
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes designed to meet the individual needs of students with autism, ensuring that educational goals aligned with the school's ethos of inclusion and respect are met.
- Assist class teachers in preparing and setting up learning activities, resources, and environments that promote positive engagement and learning.
- Provide one-to-one support for students with autism, adapting communication and behaviour management strategies in line with individualised plans and the school's values of understanding and patience.
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment that encourages student independence, confidence, and social development.
- Support students during lessons, break times, and other school activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, contributing to the assessment and review process to ensure continuous development.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support holistic approaches that reflect the school's commitment to personalised care and education.
- Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and understanding, aligning with the school's ethos of nurturing each child's unique abilities and fostering a community of compassion.
