About the Role
We are seeking an energetic and motivated Quality Control Technician to join a fast-paced food production environment. Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with the quality and production teams to ensure that products and processes consistently meet specification, customer expectations, and regulatory standards.
This role is primarily based in Co. Monaghan, with occasional travel to additional production sites as required. The position offers excellent career development opportunities, including progression into Quality Assurance responsibilities.
Typical working hours are 6:00am – 3:00pm, with some flexibility required for occasional 8:30am – 5:30pm shifts.
Please note: Full driving licence & access to a car is required as the site is not accessible by public transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine quality control checks including raw material testing, finished product inspections, weight verification, label checks, and temperature monitoring.
- Support the identification of non-conformances and assist with implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct regular hygiene, GMP, and food safety audits.
- Assist with customer and third-party audits, including BRCGS standards.
- Investigate customer complaints and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring issues.
- Work closely with production teams to maintain high food safety and product quality standards.
- Participate in quality improvement projects focused on product quality, efficiency, waste reduction, and downtime reduction.
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the production environment.
- Monitor and support achievement of quality KPIs.
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of health and safety procedures.
Skills & Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment is desirable; graduates will also be considered.
- Knowledge of HACCP and quality management systems.
- Experience with BRCGS standards is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Full clean driving licence and own transport required.
