Chicken Cottage & Forecourt Customer Service Assistant
We are looking for a hard-working individual with excellent customer service skills to join our team at this family-owned business.
Hylands Service Station is a busy 24-hour petrol station located in Bookham, Surrey. We are Esso and SPAR branded and operate a Chicken Cottage concession within the store.
Job Description
As a Customer Service Assistant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the site, working across the shop floor, forecourt, and Chicken Cottage. You will be responsible for greeting customers, serving them efficiently and professionally, and ensuring they receive a positive experience at all times.
Customer service is at the heart of what we do. Our team takes pride in going the extra mile for our local village customers, and this role requires someone who enjoys interacting with people and delivering consistently high standards.
You will be responsible for maintaining the overall presentation and operation of the site. This includes ensuring the store is fully stocked throughout your shift, shelves are faced up, sell-by dates are checked, and all customer-facing areas are clean, safe, and presentable. This extends to the forecourt, entrances, and surrounding areas.
The role also includes preparing and serving hot food within Chicken Cottage, following food safety, hygiene, and brand standards. Full training will be provided, but you must be willing to work confidently across both food service and retail.
You will also be expected to assist with deliveries, operate point-of-sale systems accurately, handle payments responsibly, and follow all company policies and procedures. Flexibility, reliability, and strong teamwork are essential, as this is a varied role within a fast-paced environment.
