Progress Teachers are delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join the school's specialist SEN Hub.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them reach their full potential. You'll work alongside an experienced teacher, the SENCO and wider SEND team to provide high-quality, personalised support in a nurturing and structured learning environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional learning and developmental needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
- Supporting teaching and learning within the school's specialist SEN Hub.
- Assisting with personalised learning plans, interventions and EHCP targets.
- Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH and other additional needs.
- Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Encouraging confidence, independence, communication and emotional wellbeing.
- Promoting positive behaviour through consistent, supportive strategies.
- Using sensory, communication and practical approaches to enhance learning.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, external professionals and families.
- Helping create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed.

Essential Requirements
- Understanding of SEND, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language Needs, SEMH or related needs.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification, or relevant transferable experience.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within an SEN Hub, Resource Base or specialist SEND setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Knowledge of sensory integration strategies, communication tools and targeted interventions.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, relational or nurture-based approaches.
- Experience delivering personalised interventions and learning support.
