Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi including rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items with precision and artistry
- Follow established recipes and menu specifications to ensure consistency and quality in every dish
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering to strict food safety protocols
- Select fresh ingredients from suppliers and handle food with care to preserve quality
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new sushi creations and seasonal specials
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery during busy service hours
- Ensure proper storage of ingredients and manage inventory levels efficiently
Skills
- Extensive experience in food preparation, especially in sushi making or Japanese cuisine
- Strong knife skills with the ability to handle delicate fish and vegetables safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper handling techniques in a restaurant setting
- Proven experience in fine dining environments or upscale restaurants
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining precision and attention to detail
- Excellent understanding of menu planning, ingredient sourcing, and presentation techniques
- Background in catering or food industry roles that emphasize quality service and culinary craftsmanship
