Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bus Engineer (PSV Technician) to join our maintenance team. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient operation of passenger service vehicles (PSVs), including buses and other commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicle systems, utilising both mechanical and electrical expertise. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on buses and PSV fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose faults using schematics, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
- Perform fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly tasks as required for repairs or modifications.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators and forklifts to carry out repairs and maintenance.
- Repair or replace mechanical components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering systems.
- Conduct electrical repairs involving wiring, lighting systems, sensors, and circuit boards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations and industry standards.
- Assist with equipment repair tasks that require heavy lifting or specialised handling.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with colleagues and clients regarding vehicle status or repair needs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, and mechanical repairs within a PSV or automotive environment.
- Strong knowledge of schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic procedures.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery such as excavators and forklifts.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during repair tasks.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to bus systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering components.
- Experience with equipment repair involving assembly or disassembly of complex vehicle parts.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and compliance documentation.
- Customer service skills to effectively communicate with team members and clients regarding vehicle maintenance status.
