Job Purpose
We are currently looking for a resilient and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a specialist setting in Small Heath.
This rewarding role involves helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
- Provide individual and classroom-based support
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Assist pupils in accessing learning activities
- Work closely with teaching and pastoral teams
- Promote a safe, structured, and nurturing environment
Person Requirements
- Experience supporting SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Patient and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant experience required, including:
- Youth work
- Support work
- SEND school experience
