Wild Water Group is Wales’ leading provider of temperature-controlled warehousing and distribution services. Our cold store network spans South Wales and southern England. We currently have a vacancy for a permanent HGV Class 1 Driver based at our Southampton cold store.
Summary of position:
The role includes ensuring vehicles and temperature-controlled trailers are properly loaded before carrying out multidrop deliveries in line with road, transport and driver legislation.
Working hours will be scheduled across Monday to Sunday and may vary in line with operational requirements.
Job description:
- Carrying out daily vehicle and trailer checks to ensure they are roadworthy, safe and suitable for temperature-controlled operations
- Adhering to all tachograph, driver, and road regulations
- Delivering the right products and quantities to the correct location on time
- Loading and discharging goods safely and sensibly, while maintaining required temperature controls
- Obtaining customer signatures where required
- Relaying significant customer feedback to the relevant parties
- Reporting any accidents, incidents, maintenance or operational issues (including any license changes) immediately to the Transport Manager
- Continuing your own professional development
- Keeping accurate records
- Being in attendance at team meetings, where requested
- Undertaking activities associated with the HR function when required e.g. investigations
- Maintaining positive and professional working relationships with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders
- Compliance with all company policies, procedures and requirements
- Maintaining a high level of housekeeping within your work area
- Taking responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others
- Accepting all other duties assigned that are commensurate with your job role
Key performance indicators (KPIs):
- Driving with due care and attention to ensure all goods arrive at their destination with zero damage
- Completing a vehicle defect sheet on every shift prior to commencing a journey and passing this to the Transport Manager accordingly
- Adhering to all rules on driver's hours and tachographs, as per the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, without exception
- Conducting general warehousing duties to expected standards when required
- Presenting yourself in a professional manner at all times
Essential requirements:
- Applicants must hold a valid Category C+E / HGV Class 1 licence, Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
- A minimum of 2 years HGV driving experience
- A clean driving licence is preferred, although minor endorsements may be considered subject to insurance approval and the nature of the role.
