The Vacancy
Uniserve is seeking a Gardener on a temporary basis based in Upminster. To provide reliable, high-quality gardening and grounds maintenance services ensuring all external areas are safe, tidy, and maintained to a high standard during staff absence.
Please note: this role is temporary, covering absence. Looking for someone with immediate or short-notice availability
Key Duties:
Grass cutting, edging, and lawn maintenance
Hedge trimming, pruning, and plant care
Weeding, planting, and maintaining flowerbeds
Maintain clean and safe external areas including paths and car parks
Identify plant health issues and take corrective action
Operate and maintain gardening equipment safely
Undertake seasonal duties (leaf clearance, planting etc.)
Report defects, hazards, or maintenance issues
Skills/Experience:
Essential:
Proven gardening / grounds maintenance experience
Experience with gardening machinery and tools
Basic horticultural knowledge
Understanding of health & safety
Desirable:
Level 2 horticulture qualification (RHS/NVQ/City & Guilds)
PA1 / PA6 spraying certificates
Full UK driving license
Behavioural Competencies:
Practical and hands-on approach
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Physically fit and comfortable outdoors
Reliable, punctual, and flexible
Good communication skills
Working Conditions:
Outdoor working in all weather
Manual handling and use of machinery
PPE required at all times
Additional Requirements:
Ability to quickly integrate into site operations
Maintain high standards with minimal supervision
