The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Sociology Teacher to join a thriving Social Sciences department within an outstanding school community.
You will teach Sociology across KS4 and KS5, delivering engaging lessons that develop analytical thinking, debate, research skills, and sociological understanding. Students are encouraged to think critically about contemporary society while exploring key sociological theories, perspectives, and issues.
You will also contribute to wider enrichment opportunities, helping students engage with current affairs, social research, and academic discussion beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Sociology across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
- Deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Sociology examinations
- Develop students’ analytical, evaluative, and essay-writing skills
- Use contemporary social issues and research to enrich learning
- Assess progress and provide detailed, constructive feedback
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation, and achievement
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher who is passionate about Sociology and committed to helping students achieve exceptional outcomes.
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Sociology or a closely related subject
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
- Strong subject knowledge across core sociological topics and theories
- Experience teaching Sociology at secondary level
- The ability to engage and inspire students through discussion and critical thinking
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A reflective, professional, and collaborative approach
- The legal right to work in the UK
