Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Scrap Handler Operator to join our team at a busy vehicle dismantlers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating scrap handler with orange peel grab, and other heavy machinery to perform various tasks within our recycling centre. This role requires a strong understanding of excavation techniques, safety protocols and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Duties
- Operate scrap handling equipment such as wheeled excavtor with orange peel grab.
- Load Idromec baler/shear with materials.
- Load bulkers with scrap matrials.
- General yard duties.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any faults or maintenance needs.
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including the use of appropriate PPE and adherence to operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring that all tools and equipment are stored correctly after use.
Experience
- Prior scrap experience is essential.
- Knowledge/previous experience using a baler/shear
- Previous experience loading scrap bulkers with materials
- Demonstrate mechanical knowledge by identifying minor repairs needed on equipment and reporting them promptly
- Proven experience as a scrap handler operator role within the metal recycling industry.
- MUST have experience using an orange peel grab scrap handler.
- forklift experience preferred.
Pay: £36,400.00 per year
