About the role
Balfour Beatty are looking for an Electrician (Wireman) to join our fantastic Power T&D team across Scotland.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and dynamic team supporting the delivery of key substation projects across the region. Due to continued growth and increasing demand, the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work across various locations throughout Scotland, contributing to a range of projects within our expanding portfolio.
We’re looking for a proactive and adaptable individual who is comfortable working across different sites, supporting the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical systems within substations. This role offers excellent exposure to high-profile infrastructure projects and the opportunity to develop within a leading organisation in the power sector.
What you'll be doing
For this role you must be a SSE Authorised Person
- Installation of HV plant and apparatus at all voltage levels form 400Kv to 33KV
- Installation of busbar and connectors
- Installation of ground earthing, hot tinning and mechanical bending/forming
- Installation of aluminium and steel structures
- Installation of cables
- Gland and terminating multicore and power cables to meet clients standards
- Understand and be conversant in red and greed drawings and apply modifications as required
- Install labels and interlocks including electrical interlocks
- Resolve problems on site with the site Supervisors and managers
- Ensure all site procedures are being followed
- To liaise with PM, site engineers, site manager and subcontractors on progress with the job to guarantee activities are coordinated effectively across a projects location(s)
- Work with the relevant supporting functions to ensure equipment and materials are delivered to (or collected from) site in a timely manner
- Ensure that accidents and near-miss incidents are promptly reported giving accurate details established at the time of the incident, assist in investigations when required
- To ensure that documentary, data and reporting requirement are satisfied within the time frames required by all team members.
