Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Children's Nursery Manager to oversee daily operations within our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and supporting their early development. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children while maintaining high standards of childcare and organisational efficiency. The Nursery Manager will also be responsible for staff supervision, programme planning, and liaising with parents and external agencies to promote the wellbeing of every child in our care.
Duties
- Lead and manage the nursery team, providing guidance, support, and ongoing training to ensure high-quality childcare delivery.
- Oversee daily nursery operations, including planning educational activities aligned with early childhood education principles.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, health and safety regulations, and safeguarding policies.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, providing updates on children's progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Organise staff rotas, recruitment, appraisals, and professional development programmes.
- Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, budgeting, and resource procurement.
- Foster a positive team environment that promotes professional growth and teamwork.
- Develop programmes that support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, colourful, and stimulating for children of various ages.
Skills
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire staff members.
- Extensive knowledge of childcare practices and early childhood education frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills in English to liaise effectively with staff, parents, children, and external agencies.
- Experience working directly with children across different age groups; childcare or nursery experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to organise workloads efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Good driving skills are preferred to facilitate transport arrangements if required.
- Compassionate approach combined with professionalism to create a warm environment for children’s growth and learning.
