The role of the Health Care Assistant is to assist the qualified nurse to:
- Provide direct care and support to the patient as delegated by the qualified nurse.
- Maintain a clean safe environment for patients and relatives.
- Assist with clerical and housekeeping duties.
- Contribute to maintaining the unit’s philosophy of care.
- To be able to work in a learning environment, providing a high standard of nursing care and support to patients.
- To work flexibly according to the needs of the department including clinical areas across site where required.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5hrs) HCA3 at Epsom and St Helier Ophthalmology Outpatients department within the intravitreal injections service.
Applicants must have previous HCA experience, preferably within ophthalmology and/or outpatients setting and have extended skills to include BP, BM, phlebotomy. You must be willing to further develop your skills and knowledge on a variety of ophthalmic related tasks and activities.
Applicants will be required to Monday to Friday 8:30-16:30 and to be able to work across site as necessary.
Willingness to expand clinical knowledge and skills and to work in a variety of clinics is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, and the ability to work under pressure.
Applicants must be motivated, flexible, able to work as part of a team, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Applicants will need to be able to work flexibly around the needs of the service.
