We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Coastal Management and Adaptation Team as a Coastal Technical Officer
Your role
Supporting the Strategic and Operational Team Leads in creating a more resilient coast through a new Coastal Strategy, you will work across the Suffolk frontage to provide technical and engineering support to the team for the provision of an effective and efficient Coastal Management service.
You will be required to undertake asset inspections, support on maintaining our asset database and work collaboratively with the Adaptation team to further develop the asset inspection tool using GIS.
You will support delivery of the Coastal monitoring programme by analysing data and providing outputs to inform decision-making. You will also contribute to the development of innovative data and monitoring approaches.
A key part of this role will be working on the delivery of the Sizewell C Development Consent Order, by supporting the Senior Coastal Engineer and acting as Technical Lead on the Sizewell C monitoring and mitigation plan. You will also be required to act as technical lead on other energy planning and development enquiries.
This is a full-time role, however we would be open to discussing flexible working arrangements or part time working for this position.
What you will need
A good understanding of coastal processes and engineering principles and practice, combined with applied technical knowledge of coastal consenting and licencing frameworks.
You will have a foundation degree or equivalent in a Coastal or Civil engineering discipline, such as Geography or Environmental Science, along with specialist Coastal Monitoring and technical knowledge.
A self-motivated and flexible individual, you will have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop monitoring approaches that are bespoke to different scheme and projects.
Being technically proficient in QGIS and or ArcGIS Pro, with experience using ArcGIS Online and related apps such as Survey123 and StoryMaps, along with the ability to fly a drone would also be advantageous.
