Agricultural Welfare and Compliance Manager
Yorkshire Farmhouse Eggs is a leading free-range and organic egg business, working with trusted company-owned farms and independent producers to deliver outstanding standards in egg production, animal welfare and food safety.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Agricultural Welfare and Compliance Manager to lead our farm assurance and compliance programme across our full supply base.
The Role
Reporting to the senior management team, you will take ownership of all farm assurance activity, ensuring that both our own farms and producer network continue to meet the highest industry standards and remain audit-ready at all times.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines on-farm presence with strong relationship building, compliance oversight and a practical understanding of assurance schemes, animal welfare standards and food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and manage farm assurance activities across company-owned farms and producer sites.
· Prepare for and coordinate external audits, including:
- British Lion Code of Practice
- RSPCA Assured
- Organic certification schemes
- Customer and retailer audits
o Any additional regulatory or assurance requirements
· Ensure all farms maintain continuous audit readiness and compliance with relevant standards.
· Conduct internal farm audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans where required.
· Monitor and maintain assurance documentation, records, and compliance systems.
· Provide practical support to producers, helping them understand and meet assurance requirements.
· Identify compliance risks and implement preventive measures.
· Keep up to date with changes in legislation, assurance standards, and industry best practice.
· Deliver clear training, guidance and support to farm managers and producers.
· Produce compliance reports and KPI updates for the senior management team.
· Build strong working relationships with certification bodies, auditors, and industry stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
· Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to their work.
· Proactive and self-motivated, with the confidence to manage their own workload and priorities.
· Comfortable working independently while building strong, collaborative relationships across the business and producer network.
· A clear, confident communicator who can influence, guide and support a wide range of people.
· Comfortable in a farm-based environment and willing to develop their knowledge of poultry production and assurance standards.
· Adaptable, practical and willing to travel regularly as part of a hands-on role.
· A full UK driving licence.
Previous experience in farm assurance, livestock production or compliance would be beneficial, but it is not essential. We are committed to providing training and development for the right candidate.
