At Amey, we’re committed to creating better places to live, work and travel. Our infrastructure teams help keep the UK moving, and we're looking for a Principal Compliance Manager to play a key role within our Structural Bridges Inspection & Maintenance (SBIM) contract.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of compliance across a nationally significant highways structures portfolio, ensuring our operations are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with all legal, contractual and regulatory requirements.
Working closely with operational, engineering and client stakeholders, you'll champion a culture of compliance, governance and continual improvement while supporting the successful delivery of critical infrastructure services.
As Principal Compliance Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership and assurance across the SBIM contract, ensuring compliance processes are embedded throughout the business and consistently meet National Highways requirements.
You'll:

Lead the compliance strategy across the SBIM contract, driving a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

Provide expert advice on statutory and regulatory compliance, including LOLER, PUWER, CDM and relevant highways standards.

Develop and oversee risk-based assurance and audit programmes.

Analyse compliance performance data, identifying trends and implementing improvement initiatives.

Lead investigations into compliance-related incidents, ensuring robust corrective and preventative actions are delivered.

Oversee the management and close-out of statutory inspection defects and compliance actions.

Act as a key point of contact for clients, auditors, regulators and supply chain partners.

Support operational and engineering teams in maintaining the highest standards of governance, safety and compliance.
We're looking for an experienced compliance professional with a strong background in highways, infrastructure or a similarly regulated environment.
You'll have:

Significant experience leading compliance, governance or assurance functions within a complex infrastructure environment.

Strong knowledge of statutory compliance requirements and health and safety legislation.

Experience developing and delivering audit and assurance programmes.

The ability to interpret compliance data and drive meaningful business improvements.

Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge, influence and engage at all levels.

Experience supporting operational teams and driving compliance across geographically dispersed sites.

NEBOSH qualification, or working towards.
-
Relevant engineering, compliance, safety or related professional qualification.
