About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and qualified Level 3 Early Years Practitioner with proven SENCO experience to join our team.
In this rewarding role, you will hold a dual responsibility: acting as the Setting SENCO across the entire building, while being based in our dedicated Nurture Room. The Nurture Room is a specially designed, supportive space for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will work alongside another supportive member of staff to co-lead a small, focused group of 6–8 children at any one time, ensuring they receive the targeted care and intervention they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting SENCO: Oversee the implementation of SEN strategies across the building, offering advice and support to other staff members.
- Nurture Room Lead: Manage the Nurture Room, creating a calm, stimulating, and inclusive environment for a small group of 6–8 children.
- Assess & Plan: Identify children's individual needs, create tailored learning plans, and monitor progress.
- Partnership: Work closely with parents, external agencies, and local authorities to ensure holistic support for every child.
- Compliance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date SEN records and documentation.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
- Qualifications: Must hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (or higher).
- SENCO Credentials: Must possess a relevant, recognised SENCO qualification and proven experience in a SENCO or SEND-focused role.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with another staff member in the Nurture Room.
- Local Knowledge (Preferred): Knowledge of Staffordshire local authority SEND processes, thresholds, and external agencies is highly desirable, though not a strict necessity.
Shift Patterns & Flexibility
- Core Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Preference: Term-Time Only (approx. 38–39 weeks per year).
- Flexibility: We are open-minded! We will happily consider candidates looking for All Year Round contracts if preferred.
Safer Recruitment & Compliance
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All successful candidates will be subject to strict pre-employment checks:
- An Enhanced DBS Check (Clean and registered on the Update Service is a plus).
- Provision of at least 2 professional references (including your most recent employer).
- Proof of qualifications and right to work in the UK.
