We are looking for a motivated and reliable Chef to support the kitchen team at our busy, well-established daytime café-bar / restaurant in Brompton on Swale.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Chef of any level who enjoys fresh food, structured daytime service, and being part of a supportive, well-run kitchen.
No evenings. No late nights. Finished by 6pm – always.

About the venue
Our daytime café-bar / restaurant is a popular destination with a warm, upmarket feel and a strong local following. We offer 100 covers indoors, plus a 60-cover terrace during the warmer months, creating a fast-paced but well-structured kitchen environment.
Our menu focuses on quality, flavour and craftsmanship — from barista coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon teas, or Sunday lunches, and more.
The role
You will work closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen and front of house team to ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations and consistently high food standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
- Running sections confidently during service
- Maintaining food quality, consistency and presentation
- Assisting with prep, service and menu development
- Helping maintain 5-star food hygiene standards and SFBB compliance
- Supporting ordering, stock control and waste management
- Training and supporting more junior kitchen team members
- Working closely with Front of House to support service flow
- Maintaining clean, safe and organised kitchen areas
- Stepping up in the Head Chef’s absence
About you
- A proven Chef of any level
- Experience in fresh-food, high-volume kitchens
- Passionate about quality, homemade food and local produce
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A positive, team-focused attitude
- Calm and reliable under pressure
- Looking for a stable, long-term role with genuine work–life balance
- Able to work 5 days out of 7, including weekends (daytime only)
