Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Second Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will support the Head Chef in preparing high-quality dishes, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing diverse menu items with precision and creativity
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff during shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to standards
- Oversee food production processes, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation of dishes
- Support food preparation activities, including chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients
- Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in compliance with health regulations
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely serving of meals and customer satisfaction
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and knowledge
- Contribute to menu innovation by suggesting new dishes or modifications based on customer feedback
Skills
- Proven supervisory experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive food production and culinary experience across various cuisines
- Strong team management skills with the ability to lead by example
- Excellent food preparation and cooking skills, with attention to detail
- Solid understanding of kitchen operations, including food safety protocols and hygiene standards
- Previous restaurant experience demonstrating versatility in hospitality settings
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and coordinate a diverse team
- Good organisational skills for managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Knowledge of serving procedures and customer service principles
