Simon Charles Auctioneers is looking for an experienced part-time HR Officer to coordinate and deliver HR processes across our two Stockport sites (Bredbury and Handforth). This is a hands-on, operational role for someone who’s comfortable owning the day-to-day HR function in a busy warehouse and auction environment.
The role
You will:
- Lead the end-to-end recruitment and onboarding process - adverts, shortlisting, interviews, references, Right to Work checks, starter paperwork
- Prepare and maintain HR documentation and employee records, ensuring GDPR compliance
- Run the administrative side of disciplinary and grievance processes - note-taking, documentation, outcome letters - with management chairing and making final decisions
- Track probation, absence, sickness and performance documentation, and flag issues to managers proactively
- Coordinate staff training (including via our existing Citation platform) and maintain training records
- Work alongside our external HR/employment law advisers on policy reviews and casework
- Support managers with consistent HR processes across both sites
This role is designed to bring structure and discipline to our HR processes so that our operational managers can focus on running the business.
About you
- Previous experience in an HR Officer or senior HR Administrator role
- CIPD Level 3 minimum (Level 5 desirable, or working towards)
- Confident handling sensitive and confidential matters
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, operational, multi-site environment
- Organised, accurate, and calm under pressure
- Strong written communication - particularly for formal HR correspondence
- Experience working with external HR or employment law providers welcome
Working pattern
- Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, across 3–4 days
- On-site at our Stockport locations, with local travel between sites
- Hours to be agreed with the successful candidate
Pay and terms
- £20–£28 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- PAYE employment or Limited Company contractor engagement for the right candidate
- Immediate start available
