Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team in our stunning new Gordon Ramsay Bread Street Kitchen & Bar.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food preparation and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the delivery of high-quality dishes in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills and gain valuable experience within a professional kitchen setting. A background in food safety, restaurant experience, and team management is highly desirable, along with supervising experience and leadership qualities. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting senior chefs in food production, ensuring standards are maintained, and assisting in the smooth operation of the kitchen.
Duties
- Assist in food preparation and cooking to meet quality standards and presentation expectations
- Support the team in food production activities, ensuring efficiency and consistency
- Supervise junior staff members, providing guidance and support where necessary
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations
- Contribute to menu planning and ingredient selection in collaboration with senior chefs
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly
- Assist with serving dishes during busy service periods, ensuring timely delivery to customers
- Manage stock levels, organise ingredients, and assist with inventory control
- Uphold hospitality standards by delivering excellent customer service when required
Experience
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen or restaurant environment is essential
- Proven culinary experience with knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
- Supervising experience or team management skills are advantageous
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices within hospitality settings
- Experience in food production and restaurant service will be highly regarded
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate team members and foster a positive working environment
