Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Gardener/Groundsperson to maintain and enhance outdoor landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, with practical experience using various gardening tools and techniques. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Maintain gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas through planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching.
- Operate hand tools such as spades, rakes, shears, and hoes to carry out gardening tasks efficiently.
- Use power tools including lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and blowers for landscape upkeep.
- Assist with planting new flora, transplanting existing plants, and removing dead or diseased vegetation.
- Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks to preserve the aesthetic appeal of outdoor environments.
- Monitor plant health and report any issues related to pests or disease.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order and stored safely after use.
Skills
- Proven experience in gardening or horticulture with a solid understanding of landscape maintenance practices.
- Competence in handling hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their proper operation.
- Growing experience with various plant species is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of horticultural principles and landscape design fundamentals.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour including digging, lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
