About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant's to support our schools in Basildon, Castle Point , Rochford and Southend-on-Sea. You will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and develop positive coping strategies within an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN needs, promoting engagement in learning.
- Implement tailored strategies to help students regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour effectively.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to create and implement individualised learning plans (ILPs).
- Assist with de-escalation techniques and use positive behaviour management strategies.
- Encourage students’ personal and social development through structured activities.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to the teaching team and parents/carers where appropriate.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum at their own pace, adapting learning materials where necessary.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN needs (school, residential, or community setting).
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with students facing emotional challenges.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- A calm and proactive attitude, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, or Team Teach training (desirable but not essential).
- A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English & Maths.
- Desirable: Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, or Mental Health Support.
- Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Experience with autism, ADHD, attachment disorders, or other additional needs is an advantage.
