This position is for a 12 hour 7am-7pm weekend day shift with the opportunity to pick up extra hours in the week
Care and support is required for a 20-year-old man with Cerebral Palsy.
The support worker will assist with administering medications, PEG feeding, personal care, moving and handling and sensory activities. The support worker will assist with community visits, day trips out and therapeutic activities.
The client has his own wheelchair accessible vehicle; therefore, the ideal candidate will need to have a clean driving licence.
He lives with his loving supportive family in a property adapted very well to meet his needs in the WF4 area Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Full training will be provided with the opportunity to obtain a qualification in health and social care if not already achieved

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, backed by previous care experience (preferred), however full training will be given to those with the right approach and attitude.
The post requires that you work independently to a very great extent at times and closely with the family and others. The post therefore requires that you work and conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to the employer. Reliability, initiative, integrity and complete trustworthiness are essential attributes in this post.
He needs complete assistance with all of his activities of daily living. He has epilepsy and takes fluids, nutrients and medication by gastrostomy. He has a purposely adapted vehicle to enable his support workers to take him out in the community.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace.
· Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
· Enable client to participate in recreation and leisure activities that he enjoys.
· To establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship
· To provide personal care for the client, this will include personal hygiene
· To supervise activities in line with the care plan guidelines
· To contribute to all household duties including cleaning, dusting, washing and ironing clothes
· To travel to hospitals or elsewhere for therapeutic care
· To travel for social or other activities
· To complete daily records as advised including; time sheets, care plan summary and critical incidents, petty cash and any other documentation in place.
· Attend review meetings with the employer and other persons as nominated by the employer
· To attend training sessions as arranged
