Job Description:
The role
We’re hiring a Tool Room Engineer to carry out repairs, modifications and continuous improvement on extrusion tooling within a busy manufacturing workshop. You’ll interpret engineering drawings, operate a range of workshop machinery and play a key part in maintaining quality, safety and uptime across the tool room.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings to repair and modify extrusion tooling.
- Operate workshop machinery including CNC wire EDM/eroders, laser welder, vertical milling machines, centre lathe and surface grinders.
- Complete tasks efficiently to plan, with close attention to detail and quality.
- Work safely at all times and maintain excellent housekeeping standards in and around machines.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the workshop; contribute ideas to improve tools, processes and ways of working.
- Follow written and verbal instructions; update records and communicate progress as required.
About you
- Level 3 qualification in Engineering (or equivalent).
- Time-served apprenticeship (preferred).
- Experience with CNC wire erosion and laser welding (preferred).
- Good numeracy, literacy and PC skills.
- Practical engineering aptitude with strong attention to detail; able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Punctual, adaptable and motivated, with a tidy, methodical approach to work.
