About the Role
As a Pharmacy Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of one or more pharmacy branches, ensuring smooth operations, excellent customer service and compliance with company procedures. You will work closely with our pharmacists and Superintendent Pharmacist while leading the operational aspects of the business.
This is not a pharmacist position and does not involve acting as the Responsible Pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the pharmacy team to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Manage daily branch operations and workflow.
- Support dispensary workflow and prescription management.
- Ensure SOPs are followed and maintain high compliance standards.
- Manage staffing, rotas and holiday planning.
- Train, mentor and develop dispensers, technicians and counter staff.
- Monitor KPIs and branch performance.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels and oversee ordering from wholesalers.
- Investigate and resolve operational issues and customer concerns.
- Support delivery of NHS and private pharmacy services.
- Prepare the branch for internal audits and regulatory inspections.
- Work closely with senior management to improve efficiency and grow the business.
Essential Requirements
- Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council or NVQ Level 3 Qualified Pharmacy Dispenser.
- Previous experience working within a UK community pharmacy.
- Experience supervising or managing a pharmacy team.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy dispensing processes.
- Good IT skills and experience with pharmacy PMR systems.
- Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive, proactive and patient-focused attitude.
Desirable
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
- Experience with care homes, monitored dosage systems (MDS) or compliance packs.
- Experience delivering NHS pharmacy services.
- Multi-branch or leadership experience.
- Full UK driving licence.
