Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional and values-driven leader to join as Managing Director of the North West London (NWL) Trusts Local Finance Shared Services Centre (LFSSC).
The NWL Trusts LFSSC is a new collaboration between the NWL Acute Provider Group (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust, London North West Healthcare NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and 3 non-acute Trusts (Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust and West London NHS Trust) within the West and North London Integrated Care System. The LFSSC will have a staffing establishment of circa 60 WTE, an annual budget of circa £6 million and will provide transactional finance services to the 7 Trusts within the partnership using Oracle Fusion Cloud. Services to be provided include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Finance Systems, Treasury and some aspects of Financial Accounting services. The LFSSC will support circa. 2,200 budget holders across the 7 Trusts, and circa 650,000 invoice and credit notes processed annually.
The Managing Director will have responsibility for the operational management of the North West London (NWL) Trusts Local Finance Shared Service Centre (LFSSC) and ensuring effective implementation of both national and local strategies and the achievement of service objectives. The postholder will lead and work across the NWL Trusts to provide operational and strategic leadership.
As a key strategic member of the NWL Trusts finance senior leadership team, the postholder will exercise an influential leadership role to deliver a high quality and value adding finance function. They will be responsible for providing a comprehensive consistent finance transactional service across NWL and working with colleagues across the NWL NHS landscape, identify and support further improvement opportunities.

The successful candidate will bring leadership experience within a complex environment, with a proven track record of successful shared services establishment and operation. The role requires a recognition of the importance of customer focused delivery, a collaborative and compassionate leader, able to build strong partnerships across the partner Trusts, the West and North London Integrated Care Board, our finance and procurement system supplier and wider system partners. The Trust partners are actively seeking to optimise digital and system based innovation to the benefit of our staff and patients and it will be of benefit for candidates to demonstrate their leadership and other experience of delivering or supporting such change.
To deliver an exemplar, high quality and value adding finance function, focusing on standardisation, centralisation and optimisation, by achieving the following objectives:
- Demonstrate exceptional leadership and accountability of the LFSSC
- To establish the LFSSC as a recognised centre of excellence in the NWL health and care community and beyond; recognised for supporting and promoting finance staff development, training and wellbeing
- Change and consolidate the delivery of transactional activities for NWL NHS Trusts (this includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, some treasury services, financial accounting and finance systems).
- Lead and support design, delivery and quality compliance for standard operating processes across finance services to deliver greater quality and greater value.
- Lead and support design, delivery and quality compliance for sector wide finance systems where practical to drive robust solutions and data integrity enabling better insight and informed complex decisions.
- Mitigate system outages, , and build resilience into systems whilst minimising the need for capital investment.
- Lead and support NWL NHS Trusts to consolidate and harmonise outsourced finance contracts across NWL to deliver greater efficiencies and savings.
- Working seamlessly with North West London Procurement Services, to optimise the associated aspects of services and the shared software platform.
- Be accountable for ensuring an excellent level of customer service.
