The Supply Room is currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive primary school in Bristol that is looking to appoint a full-time Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who requires consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day.
The pupil requires support around emotional regulation and trauma-related behaviours. Although there is currently no formal diagnosis, the school is looking for someone calm, resilient, and confident in supporting children with additional emotional and behavioural needs. The pupil responds particularly well to positive role models, movement-based activities, and relationship-led support.
A background in sports coaching, mentoring, or youth work would be highly beneficial, especially alongside previous experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH needs within schools or similar settings. An interest in sport, cooking, and engaging activities would also help in building a strong and positive connection with the pupil.
The Role Will Involve:
- Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Supporting emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour
- Building a strong, trusting mentoring relationship
- Using calm, structured, and nurturing approaches
- Encouraging participation in learning and school routines
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- A background in sports coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar roles
- Experience working within schools or educational settings
- Confidence acting as a positive and consistent role model
Additional Information:
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday
- Start date in May or June
- Potential for the role to continue into the next academic year
- Based within one school placement
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service would be beneficial for a quick start, but is not essential
