Are you experienced in supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are recruiting SEMH Support Workers and Behaviour Mentors to work in specialist SEMH schools and provisions across South London.
Our client schools are dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable young people, providing structured, therapeutic, and nurturing environments. You'll be working as part of a wider pastoral and education team, helping pupils overcome barriers and engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trusted, consistent relationships with young people who have SEMH needs
- Implement de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches to manage challenging behaviour
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
- Contribute to risk assessments, care plans, and EHCP reviews
- Record and report on pupil wellbeing, behaviour incidents, and progress
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, trauma, or complex emotional needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, or PACE model
- Relevant training: Team Teach, Thrive, or equivalent (desirable)
- Calm under pressure with excellent de-escalation skills
- Resilient, empathetic, and committed to young people's wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
