About Modern Accountancy
Modern Accountancy Limited is a growing, family-run accountancy practice that does things differently.
We're a technology-focused firm that believes great client service is what sets us apart. Our clients recommend us because we're proactive, approachable and responsive. Rather than waiting for clients to chase us, we stay one step ahead and make sure they're looked after.
We're now looking for an Accountant to join our growing team and help us continue delivering the high standards our clients expect.
The Role
You'll be responsible for preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax returns for a portfolio of limited company clients while providing first-class support and advice throughout the year.
You'll work closely with the Senior Accountant but will also be trusted to manage your own workload, communicate directly with clients and take ownership of your work.
This role focuses on accounts production and corporation tax. Payroll, VAT, bookkeeping and personal tax are handled by specialist members of our team, allowing you to concentrate on delivering high-quality accounts and tax work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies.
- Prepare CT600 corporation tax returns.
- Manage your own portfolio of clients.
- Build strong relationships with clients and answer their queries promptly.
- Liaise with HMRC when required.
- Resolve client issues efficiently and professionally.
- Manage deadlines and prioritise your own workload.
- Work closely with colleagues to provide an outstanding client experience.
About You
We're looking for someone who can work confidently and independently while providing exceptional client service.
You'll ideally have:
- AAT qualified as a minimum.
- ACA or ACCA part-qualified or fully qualified (preferred).
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and CT600 corporation tax returns.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of your work.
- A genuine commitment to delivering outstanding client service.
Experience using Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, IRIS and Bright software would be an advantage but isn't essential.
What We Offer
- £28,000–£33,000 salary depending on experience.
- 35-hour working week.
- Semi-flexible working hours.
- Office-based role in Bewdley.
- Free parking.
- Casual dress.
- Auto-enrolment pension.
- Paid study support can be discussed.
- 28 days' holiday including bank holidays.
- An additional paid Christmas shutdown of up to two weeks, provided client work is up to date.
- Modern equipment including high-spec laptops and ultrawide monitors.
- A supportive, friendly team with high standards and plenty of opportunities to grow alongside the business.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to become part of a growing practice where your work genuinely makes a difference.
You'll have the autonomy to manage your own clients, the support of an experienced team when needed, and the chance to help shape the future of a business that values technology, efficiency and exceptional client service above everything else.
If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, build strong client relationships and develop your career in a modern practice, we'd love to hear from you.
