As Service Chef at The Old Ship, Luckington, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations during service, ensuring the timely preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes while maintaining consistency, efficiency, and excellent communication across the kitchen team. Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you will help coordinate service to deliver an exceptional dining experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate kitchen operations during service, ensuring dishes are prepared, plated, and served to the highest standards.
- Maintain a smooth and efficient service by communicating effectively between kitchen sections and managing workflow during busy periods.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes in accordance with menu specifications, recipes, and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets quality, consistency, and portion control expectations.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with current food safety legislation and HACCP procedures.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations are clean, organised, and operated safely.
- Monitor stock levels during service, minimise food waste, and support stock rotation and inventory management.
- Provide guidance and support to junior chefs and kitchen assistants, ensuring efficient teamwork and adherence to kitchen standards.
- Assist with menu development by contributing ideas for seasonal dishes and service improvements.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting all kitchen sections as required to ensure seamless service.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience working in a fast-paced professional kitchen with responsibility for coordinating service.
- Strong understanding of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and efficient kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and support the kitchen team.
- Thorough knowledge of food hygiene, HACCP procedures, and health and safety regulations.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and high food quality.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise tasks during busy service periods.

Pay: £32,000.00 per year
