Salary: £15 – £17 Per Hour DOE

Hours: 37.5 – 40 Hours
Working Pattern: Including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Senior Cook to support the day-to-day operation of their busy café and restaurant. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate food professional who enjoys preparing fresh food, maintaining high standards and supporting the development of a successful kitchen team.
The role:
- Supporting the Kitchen Manager and leading the kitchen operation in their absence
- Preparing and overseeing breakfast, lunch, evening meal and wood-fired pizza services
- Preparing and cooking fresh food to a consistently high standard
- Maintaining excellent standards of food quality, presentation and cleanliness
- Supporting stock control, ordering and stock rotation processes
- Assisting with food cost control and minimising waste
- Supervising and supporting kitchen assistants and junior team members
- Assisting with training and development of apprentices, students and trainees
- Working closely with the Front of House team to deliver an exceptional customer experience
- Ensuring compliance with food hygiene, allergen and health & safety regulations
- Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
The successful candidate:
- Previous experience within a busy restaurant, café, bistro or similar hospitality environment
- Experience preparing and serving fresh food to a high standard
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Experience supporting stock control and food ordering
- Excellent knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety requirements
- Ability to motivate and support team members
- Passion for food quality and customer satisfaction
- Flexible approach to working hours across a seven-day operation
Desirable:
- Experience with wood-fired pizza preparation and cooking
- Experience supporting apprentices, students or trainees
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience
