The Role
As Audit Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio, ensuring audits are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest professional standards.
You'll be a trusted advisor to clients, a mentor to your team, and a key contributor to the continued growth and success of the audit department.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio & Audit Delivery
- Manage a portfolio of audit clients, ensuring assignments are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Lead audit engagements from planning through to completion
- Review audit files in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs)
- Monitor budgets, WIP, billing, recoverability, and overall portfolio performance
- Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges proactively
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for audit clients
- Build trusted, long-term client relationships
- Keep stakeholders informed throughout the audit process
- Identify opportunities to add value and introduce additional firm services
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead audit teams with professionalism, clarity, and integrity
- Delegate effectively while empowering team members to succeed
- Coach, mentor, and develop junior colleagues
- Conduct regular performance and development reviews
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture
Quality, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with ISAs, ISQM 1, AML regulations, and firm policies
- Review and oversee work completed by junior team members
- Support departmental training and professional development initiatives
- Maintain the highest standards of professional judgement and ethical conduct
Business Development
- Support tender submissions, client pitches, and growth initiatives
- Contribute to the firm's reputation and market presence
- Assist with recruitment and attracting top audit talent
About You
You'll be a technically strong and people-focused audit professional who enjoys leading teams and building lasting client relationships.
Essential Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience
- At least 5 years' audit experience within a professional practice environment
- Proven experience operating at Audit Manager level
- Strong portfolio management and client relationship skills
- Excellent technical knowledge of auditing standards and regulatory requirements
- Strong commercial awareness and organisational skills
- Outstanding communication and leadership abilities
